When all you can see on your plate is what you don't like...

We were sitting at dinner tonight. Jackson wasn't liking something I put on his plate. At that moment he couldn't see the things on his plate that he liked. I commented on this and mom said, "We all do that. When something is going wrong in our lives, we can't see what is going right so everything in our life seems bad." It is so true. When life happens all you can see is what is going wrong. I guess that is why we are told to count our blessings.

Pete bought me a framed thought for Christmas. It said - "We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count." - Neal A. Maxwell

so true... I think we also see ONLY the good things on everyone else's plate - not realizing that they, too, have brussel sprouts they need to choke down.

 So Pete showed me one of my old posts and reminded me that this blog is here. I have been feeling like I need to blog again, but I have been trying to decide what kind of blog I want to do. Do I want to continue to blog about my family, or to blog about thoughts that I have about different aspects of life? Update on life...

I guess it is September and you are all due an update, whoever you all are. Started my new job the last week of August so I have been going two weeks. Working four ten hour shifts starting at ten in the morning, Monday thru Thursday. It is amazing how tired you can get sitting in front of a radio waiting for something to happen. I have been getting better at hearing the things I need to and responding as necessary. I never knew dispatching was so complicated. It also gives me a different outlook on things. I see news stories about shootings of police officers and I think about how hard that was for the dispatcher to hear that and stay in control. However, I do think that this will be a good job for me and I hope the improvement continues. I think this is something I really want and didn't even know it. I am just glad Pete knows me and encouraged me to apply back in April. Still waiting on my insurance cards to show up. Because of the new job I had to put the boys in daycare.
