30 Day Blog

Okay I am totally going to do this, my sisters have and since I have been behind on the blog maybe I could figure this out.

Day 1-your favorite song

This is my favorite hymn. I sang it once as part of a choir at a CES fireside and again that year at Grandma Avis' funeral. I love it - I can rarely sing it without choking up.

O my Father, thou that dwellest

In the high and glorious place,
When shall I regain thy presence
And again behold thy face?
In thy holy habitation,
Did my spirit once reside?
In my first primeval childhood
Was I nurtured near thy side?

For a wise and glorious purpose
Thou hast placed me here on earth
And withheld the recollection
Of my former friends and birth;
Yet ofttimes a secret something
Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,”
And I felt that I had wandered
From a more exalted sphere.

I had learned to call thee Father,
Thru thy Spirit from on high,
But, until the key of knowledge
Was restored, I knew not why.
In the heav’ns are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare!
Truth is reason; truth eternal
Tells me I’ve a mother there.

When I leave this frail existence,
When I lay this mortal by,
Father, Mother, may I meet you
In your royal courts on high?
Then, at length, when I’ve completed
All you sent me forth to do,
With your mutual approbation
Let me come and dwell with you

Other than that I have too many favorites to recall just one.

Day 2-your favorite movie

It makes me laugh and cry - it is the perfect movie... Good music and a great screenplay.

My absolute favorite Disney Movie. I love the songs and the story. Its perfect.

I  watch this movie over and over again. It is the one I watched when Pete was working on the road and I fell asleep to it all the time. It has a great soundtrack - I think I am getting a theme....

Day 3-your favorite television program

This one should be easy - I still have a couple faves... I love Grey's Anatomy and Chuck... During the summer its Royal Pains.

Day 4- your favorite book

My favorite of the classics are A Tale of Two Cities and The Count of Monte Cristo. I have no actual favorite book... I like too many of them.

Day 5-your favorite quote

No misfortune is so bad that whining about it can't make it worse.

Jeffery R. Holland.

This is my favorite quote.... I found it in his book, Broken Things to Mend while I was feeling rather broken. It came at a time that I thought things were bad. It reminded me that I couldn't whine about things that were going on in my life at the time. It doesn't do any good and we just have to do the best we can.

Day 6- 20 of my favorite things

In no particular order - Books, peaches, jackson, wyatt, Pete, crochet, chocolate, movies, music, computer, tv, the gospel, my sisters, my brothers, my parents, shoes, games, grandparents, in laws, driving

Day 7-a photo that makes you happy

Obviously this makes me happy because it is an okay picture of my family. At least it seems we are having fun.

Day 8-a photo that makes you angry/sad

This is just sad.... No one in their right mind would cheer for this team (BSU - I realize they are ranked high this year but it doesn't mean I have to like them. Any True Vandal would understand. Who do we hate?) let alone create an airplane. At least the seats in it aren't blue. My poor husband had to fly in it because he had no other choice. Rob Spear, The University of Idaho athletic director, had a few more choices. LOL Right after they started using this thing, he was scheduled to fly on business, he saw that this was the plane they intended to use, so he drove to Spokane for better options. HAHA now that is a Vandal! But seriously BSU is not the UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO and BOISE is not a STATE. At least Horizon has evened things out and will begin flying a Vandal plane in November.... Did I mention I HATE Bandwagon State?

Now this is a picture that I really kind of makes me sad.

Okay so I love that they are doing a puzzle together but look how skinny Pete is... He still looks pretty ill and that makes me sad.

Day 9-a photo you took

I take lots so you get a few.

I love this one I took on my way to work one morning. I love how the sun shines through the clouds.

I have always loved this temple. I took this one earlier this year.

My boys. I have lots of pictures that I took of my boys but I love these two from this summer. I could spend all day posting pictures of these two that I love.

Day 10-a photo taken over 10 years ago of you

This is one of my senior pictures.

Day 11-a photo of you recently

My siblings and I doing what we do best - being dorks!
Day 12-something you are OCD about

I am OCD about being late. I cannot be late. I hate it and I hate it when others are late. I have to be on time or early - on time is too close to late. I wouldn't really call it OCD but it is one of those things.

After thinking about it - I have one other thing - words. I have to use the right word in a situation and if I have it on paper it needs to be spelled correctly - spelling and grammar. Poor Pete - I think I correct him and everyone else around me. So yeah if you are going to use a word, use it correctly.

Day 13-a fictional book

Pride and Prejucice.

Day 14-a non-fictional book

Broken Things to Mend by Jeffery R. Holland.

Day 15-your dream house

Victorian with more than one bathroom and big rooms.

Day 16-a song that makes you cry (or nearly)

Star Spangled Banner - I can never make it through the stupid song especially when I pay attention to the lyrics.

Day 17-an art piece (drawing, sculpture, painting, etc)

This is called "Forgive Me, Joseph" By Liz Lemon Swindle. I love the emotion in this picture.. This is after the martyrdom. The guilt and loss she must feel and then to watch the saints - her friends... leaving and she didn't have the strength to go with them. She had sacrificed so much - her children - she left her parents - and finally she lost her beloved joseph. Picture taken from Liz Lemon Swindle's official site.... http://www.reparteegallery.com/pm-10626-159-forgive-me-joseph.aspx

Day 18-my wedding/future wedding/past wedding

The picture is scanned so it stinks... LOL but this was my wedding. We held it in my grandma's yard. It was nice and my mom and grandma did wonderful helping me put it together.

Future wedding - Its not really a wedding but close enough. I can't wait to be sealed to my family after Oct 16, 2011.... That is the one I am looking forward to.

Day 19-a talent of yours

This was the first blanket I made. We gave this one to Jackson's kindergarten teacher for teacher appreciation day.

Brian watched a couple episodes of Chuck, but I've never seen it. I had no idea you liked the Wedding Date so much.

Why does the plane picture make you sad? You're supposed to explain these things you know. ;)
